I didn't mean to make that sound so intriguing! It's actually a really boring story. I tried to start another master's program (clinical microbiology) and after the first semester realized it was crap. During that semester I was promised a job at the clinical lab I was working in, but found out in Jan 2004 that there was no funding. So I "aggressively" looked for work at Mayo, and finally got hired in April 2004. Sorry to get your hopes up for a good story! 😛
