I'm pretty aware of the tendencies to vet and pre-vet students having Type A personalities, but curious to see what the statistics is here on SDN.

And yes, I'm also aware that these Type A/B personality is obsolete and not exactly regarded as something scientifically relevant but personally I've been pretty good at distinguishing people between these 2 types. Over generalization involved? Of course! But I stand by my judgment and been pretty accurate so far lol

I'm Type B.

O positive. 🙂

I like to think I've got the best of both type A and B personalities. I'm probably a lot more type A than type B if you really want to classify me. I think it's situational but for the most part I at least know when to chill out and stop being the crazy, obsessive workaholic grad student!

Me three 😛 I just learned this a few months ago when I tested myself!

That being said, I used to be a major type A. After going away for college, moving away from my mom (THE type A!), some antidepressants, and getting married...I'm very Type B.

Same.

I'm the Type of personality that can look at any random horoscope and say "Yep that's me"

I find it funny that a thread about personality types has somehow turned into blood types!

I am B positive, but contrary to my optimistic blood, I'm much more of a Type A personality

Yes, I totally couldn't tell if the first reply was supposed to be funny or if they didn't read the post! Obviously the subsequent post are to be humorous.

To the point of the thread... I'm a A- blood type and A type personality, but I like to think my personality is not negative! If you look at my living space however I'm a total type B. Oh well!

Blood Type: O neg (universal donor)
Personality Type: A

Type A positive. Even my blood surface antigens are overachievers.

Definitely a type B personality

As far as blood type I have no clue...😕

I went to donate blood once but I was not allowed to because my heart rate was over 100; I guess my nerves were really showing that day..:meanie:

It is probably about 70% type A on this forum. I'm type A. But compared to my classmates...I'm a type B when surrounded by all of them
Also, you can do polls on SDN. Not that these polls are accurate lol but at least you could see a visual representation of what people say. And more people will vote than people who who will take the time to respond in a thread

I'm Type A-......everyone here at school seems to be Type A+ and it is one of the most exhuasting social experiments I have ever done! I've always been great dealing with different kinds of people but I'm really starting to get annoyed with constantly being surrounded by the SAME KIND OF PERSON. Makes me tired! 😉 All they do is argue and argue!

I'm blood type B+ (always used to quip it was perfect for a cheerleader) and probably borderline A/B personality.

What made me post in this thread however is a strong desire to go to Six Flags Magic Mtn and ride X2. All of the pre-ride teasers there ask you "Are you type A, or type X?" aargh I want roller coasters!

I think the type A's just come with the territory, given all the requirements to get in to vet school but like the previous post its definitely is an interesting social experiment! like nothing I've ever experienced before. Someone should post of a list of how to deal with both types!

I'm borderline A/B as well. It depends on who I am around, honestly. And the situation I'm presented with.

Also: A positive. 🙂

Second also: Thanks for making me want a vacation even MORE.😛

I've never known the type a, type b traits, or known which one I am. What are the characteristics?

My blood type is A+
INFJ meyers briggs

Good one people, good one. I'm blood type O+ . I think.

bayarea, characteristics of these 2 traits are as follows:

Type A personality: Over-achievers, competitive, controlling, agressive and impatient. Tend to be successful in life as they do strive for perfection, but heart-related health issues do tend to surface (this statement however is not backed by much substantial evidence)

Type B personality: Apathetic, patient, relaxed, easy-going, no sense of time schedule, and apparently "sensitive of other people's feelings" (via Wiki).

Ha, and guess what...I found out there's also a "Type C personality" and "Type D personality":
"Type C personality people are perfectionists and tend to take everything seriously. They dress very neatly and work very devotedly. They have a tendency to go deep into details of things and are always striving for accuracy in whatever they do."
http://www.buzzle.com/articles/type-c-personality.html

Type D personality people tend to be distressed (hence D?), fear rejection and social unacceptance. Keep their emotions unexpressed, more often than not associated to heart disease, lack self motivation and drive...etc
http://www.buzzle.com/articles/type-d-personality.html

I doubt anyone here fits under the Type D category. I hope, anyways.

Well, I 'think' I am an over-achiever (at least compared to friends and family), very competitive and strive for perfection in the things I do. Most of the time I am patient though, and I can be relaxed and easy-going. I do like to think of myself as working devotedly. I'm also kind of a perfectionist, so I usually go into detail about stuff.

What am I?

A hybrid?

Interesting. I was definitely type a during my childhood lol. Pretty sure I'm a type b now.

Oh jeez haha.

I'm an overachiever for sure but I'm also really good at rolling with the punches.

A+ blood.

And if anyone's curious, Capricorn and Dragon. =)

There is also a 5th(?) personality type of "Hardy"
defined as:
"a person who seems to thrive on stress but lacks the anger and hostility of the Type A personality"

Also, the definition of type C according to my Psychology prof is:
"pleasant but repressed person, who tends to internalize his or her anger and anxiety and who finds expressing emotions difficult." Perhaps we can refer to that as C2.

I would have to say I'm somewhere in between Hardy and type A...depends on what day of the month it is

I don't think you could classify any serious pre-vet or vet student as an "underacheiver". So Type D is out....

I can't fit into any of your categories :-(. More Type B than Type A, but definitely not "apathetic" about anything. I just try to make myself relax.... and enjoy life as it comes! Work hard and everything works out eventually 😎

generalizing: Type A/B personality today only means the following

type A get somewhere, by being OCD, not concerned with morality, will ***** themselves for their goal, and that's the only way to achieve success.

type B gets nowhere because they are not necessarily target oriented. they have concerns for others feelings which will interfere with the demanding nature of the field (not true but perceived as such). they also don't pursue taks lists or rank.

there are exceptions of course...and the only way to know is go deeper with the better tool: meyer-briggs. this will tell you a lot more about the patterns you see in people and tendencies of temperament and character.

unfortunately, type A prevails in health sciences and people don't understand or allow room for variance in individuality. so get ready to backstab and degrade others on your way to success!

the underachiever and the overachiever are two sides of the same coin. the 2nd works hard and thinks that whatever he does is not enough because there is always someone that will be unhappy and will not approve. the first doesn't work hard (although they can) knowing that doing it...there will always be someone that will be unhappy and will not approve.

I'm Chaotic Neutral.

😀

Heehee.

I am totally a type B personality. I'm respectfully assertive, though, so hopefully that will keep me from getting trampled by all you go-getters! 😀
