Hi everyone! I'm so lucky to have been offered admission to University of Arizona, University of Wisconsin, Oregon State, and University of Illinois (waitlisted at Washington State). I'm currently in the process of deciding between schools and would love advice from anyone who has experience with these programs. I'm an Arizona resident and my goal is to practice equine medicine.

I'd really appreciate any insight (especially in regards to these school's equine programs)! Thank you!!

*I know Arizona would be my cheapest option, both in terms of tuition and cost of living. I do like the idea of a 3 year program, but have concerns about the flipped classroom model and lack of teaching hospital. I was also not overly impressed by their facilities when I visited.

Oregon state doesn’t really allow you to track and even in 4th year some SA rotations are required. It’s a great school, however if you got in to U of AZ with instate tuition and will graduate a year early due to their 3 year program that would be a no brainer for me!

I personally think if you were going equine(I am as well) not having a teaching hospital could be beneficial. You could tailor your 3rd year experiences to working in equine private practice, which potentially could mimic more of an internship with more hands on experience that a teaching hospital could offer.

I’d say make the best of not having a teaching hospital but utilizing clinics you already have relationship with and graduate a year early!

Illinois also doesn't have a tracking system. I would personally go to the cheapest option.
