Does anyone know if the pre-reqs for Baylor must be completed by application time?

Thanks! Do you happen to know what the 3 month training is like between sept to Dec? Is that a formal OCS/OTS training?

It consists of BOLC (Basic Officer Leader Course) A and B. BOLC A is what teaches you how be an officer. OCS would fall under this category, as would ROTC, but from what I hear the BOLC A for direct commission officers, such as PTs, is not quite as intense. BOLC B is what used to be called Officer Basic Course. It teaches branch specific stuff, which is this case would be AMEDD BOLC.

I'm also in the same boat MJ000 I'm planning to apply to army Baylor but was concerned about pre reqs. I've called the program and have been told by two different people that only 2 classes can remain at the time of selection. However my problem is that I will still have 2 lecture classes with the corresponding labs- a&p 2 plus lab and Gen chem 2 plus lab- for a total of 8 credit hours leftover for the spring semester after applying. I've been told this acceptable as they wouldn't consider the labs separate classes. What I'm most concerned about is what is considered a competitive gre score for army Baylor? Anyone have insight on that?

Their mean GRE is a 314 for last years class. Many of your potential classmates will have a 320 or above. If your GPA is amazing and you have a ton of military PT observation hours, you can get in with a lower gre score (300 - 305). I've seen the data on the incoming classes that someone posted on these forums awhile back (sent by the recruiter to them). It's either high gre score / OK gpa or Great GPA / OK GRE. Also, if you have sort of past run in with the law, for whatever reason, and/or have visible tattoos you will most likely be disqualified. The army isn't offering lifestyle waivers at this point in time. It's sort of a ridiculous process.

Thanks for the info! I just took the GRE yesterday and got a 312 cumulative, 157 verbal, 155 quant. I was shooting for 315 or higher. Not sure if I will take it again. Do you think 312 is competitive knowing the mean accepted is 314? My overall gpa so far for the science pre reqs is pretty good though a large chunk of the pre reqs I'm taking right now so it's still a work in progress.

What are your other stats? and are you trying to get your packet in right now? You are most likely out of luck for this year if much of your work is outstanding. I've gone through the process with a recruiter. As far as your GRE, it's okay but it won't make up for a poor GPA if you have one. I'd recommend retaking it when ready and shooting for a 315 min.

Also, be sure to get a 4.5 or above on the AW.

Who told you no visible tattoos are allowed? The regulation did change last spring but it doesn't totally forbid visible tattoos. They can't be on the hands, neck. or face and you can't have more than 4 tattoos below the elbow or knee. There's also word from higher that these rules are going to be eased.

My undergrad cumulative gpa was 3.5 my science pre req gpa which I'm working on right now I'm guessing will be around 3.8 or higher by the time I finish, albeit that's depends on how I do in the classes. I've already contacted the recruiter for my region and have done the preliminary paperwork. As for the pre reqs I'll have competed all of them by December except for anatomy & phys 2 and gen chem 2. I would have gotten the pre reqs done earlier except I didn't make the decision to go to pt school until the beginning of this year. And even then did not begin taking classss until this summer. In regards to volunteer hours I'll have about 100 at the local Air Force pt clinic 100 at the local Va outpatient pt clinic and about 20 to 30 hours in the Va's spinal cord pt clinic. Luckily I don't have any run ins with the law to worry about.
As to the gre I agree with you a 315 or higher is definitely desirable. I'm probably going to retake it here in another month or so. How about Dptcoasral? Are you applying this December?

I know this is an old thread but I’m hoping someone will still see it. I’m using a shotgun approach. I am trying to set up volunteer time at Fort Carson but I am running into issue. The Red Cross office who runs their volunteer program told me yesterday I cannot volunteer there. I was told due to the cost of the background check only current ID card holders can volunteer. I offered to pay the cost of the background check myself but I was told that wasn’t possible. I just left the Army in May after more than 14 years of total service, including 3 deployments. I’m a veteran who wants to continue serving my fellow veterans/service members. I’m trying to do something positive but I’m running into a mess of red tape.

Did anyone else run into an issue like this when trying to volunteer on post?
