Was told by my state AMEDD recruiter that all licensed physicians in the Guard function as 62B, field surgeon.

Is this true?
If not, what other AOC are available for MDs in the Guard?

Thanks in advance.

Not true, but mostly true. I know the Guard has slots for psychiatrists, for one. But most of the rest are field or flight surgeons.

I think that if you want to do your primary specialty, I'd probably recommend looking into the Reserves. I'm fairly certain that the guard just needs docs to be primarily administrative batt/brigade surgeons, and relies heavily on active/reserve csh while deployed overseas.
