I was watching an episode the other day and I felt like I needed to say on this forum for all those that have not seen the show, that you need to get the DVD from netflicks and watch it.

If you have seen a few episodes and think "ah, it's okay", then you need to watch a few more. I think it takes a few in a row to really start to appreciate that absolute genius of the show. It is by far one (if not THEE best) of the best comedies ever written. It is funny on many different levels, plus with many hidden things that take a few viewings to catch it all. (in the episode I just watched, George Micheal's girlfriend just dumped him and he was walking with his head down, the background music was the sad music that always plays during the Peanuts cartoon, and as that played, he walked by a dog house that had a dog lying on top...)

Here is a line from a recent episode I saw "Michael: I really think the reason you and I always fight is that, since we were little, Dad's always played us off each other.
Gob: Dad always said that was your fault. "

I've noticed that a few of you have an avitar with reference to arrested development. Cool.

So in summary, watch Arrested Development - it will enhance your health and improve your sex drive and lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. In general, it WILL make your life better. This I can promise. It sure beats all that reality crap.

I agree. Great show and always was so subtly hysterical. But, alas, far too cerebral for the typical Fox audience. Did you ever notice that the show always ended with, "And, on the NEXT Arrested Development..." and then the subsequent show would cover none of what was on the preview.

Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, and David Cross were great in their (as per usual) quirky roles. Even Jason Bateman was great as the "straight" man in the show.

I've only seen one or two episodes and I liked em. I'll check it out on Netflix.

I have to say that "Its always sunny in Philadelphia" is my new favorite show. Its my humor dead on.

Word. It's definitely one of those series that you have to sit down and watch every episode in order, because there are just too many gags and jokes that build on each other from episode to episode. It definitely pays off to pay attention when you watch...you will be rewarded with hilarity layered deep.

FYI, there is an AD movie in the works for 2009. I'd rather just have the series back, but I'll take the movie over nothing.

I agree. It is definately one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, but you definately have to watch it from the very beginning. I tried to watch it when it was on TV and could never get into it, because I had no clue what was going on. Rent it and watch it from the beginning. You will not be disappointed:laugh:

The best thing about AD is the complexity. Of course, that's what ruined its chances of ever having a big, lasting audience in the first place.

I'm watching the series now for probably the 6th time through and I'm still picking up little running jokes and references.

And also, everything Tobias says is abso-f**king-lutely hilarious. "Sure, I'll be your wingman. Even if I have to take a chubby, I will ssssuck it up."

Highly recommended to play the AD drinking game...if you can keep up. Annyong!

I love AD. Ever notice how in the third season when Michael is dating Rita (MRF), whenever she sits on a public bench, there are clues about what she is? For example, in the episode when they give her the rufie, she's sitting on a bench that says "Wee Britain" only she's sitting in front of the "brit" part, so it says "wee Brain"? Great show.

Great show! But you do have to watch it from the very beginning because they always referenced events from previous episodes, even from previous seasons in very subtle ways. And remember the first few episodes (I tivoed them when they replayed the whole series on some cable network) and I thought I was missing episodes because the 'next' episode wouldnt be the same as the previews from the previous episode.

I was introduced to this show by my med school roommate. I watched from the beginning and was hooked. The running gags are hilarious.

Running gags on Tobias being a never nude (someone who at no point in time can be completely nude...not even in the shower) and possibly a homosexual are hysterical....

Tobias: I think it's time we had a chat...man on man

Tobias to cab driver: Take me to the Gray Castle
Cab driver in british accent: The Greek a$$hole?
Tobias: That's what I said.

Tobias to his nephew, George Michael, suspecting that he might also be a never nude: "I think I understand more than you would...never...know"

Running gag on 15 year old George Michael not sure how to deal with his attraction to his cousin, Maebe.

Dad to George Michael: So Maebe is going to be working for you at lemonade stand. I don't want you to cut her any slack because she's your cousin. I want you to RIDE HER...HARD!

dad always said there is money in the banana stand

Without a doubt one of the greatest shows. It was too smart for average audience. Portia de rossi was hysterical.

Scene:

gob buys a boat with the companies money and says this to mike. "Michael I bought a boat with the company's money. I called the boat the seaward". Michael explains to gob that the company is teetering on the edge of financial ruin and they cant afford a boat and he needs to sell th eboat . As they are talking MOm walks in and standing behind michael. they continue their discussion concerning the seaward(pronounced C WORD). Michael finally says... "Get rid of the SEAWORD" dramtic pause........ camera cut to moms face.... she says," Im not going anywhere"

that is too funny. maebe was actually a really cute girl.. i wonder what she looks like now.

I haven't watched much AD, but you guys should check out News Radio (particularly the episodes w/Phil Hartman, up through season 4 IIRC).

You need to back the F off with that News Radio noise!

"You call yourself an environmentalist, but I don't see you clubbing any beavers!"

My favorite part of the show is when Gob does his chicken imitation. It just makes me laugh everytime I think about it. Pure awesome.

I love how they all have different chicken imitations that are completely ridiculous!

WOW.

Never watched it but from the responses I'm gonna hafta get the Netflix!

Gotta (embarrassingly) admit I loved watching Project Runway. 🙂eek🙂

S.O. got me watching it since she was watching it...

Yeah, a buncha gay dudes making dresses...but I was in awe of how the eventual winner, Kristian, had such vision...and how all the contestants, for that matter, made some beautiful stuff outta just-pieces of fabric.

Fun to watch a totally different culture engulfed in creativity.

Hmmmm....whattya guys think? Should I adopt Kristians haircut and start saying "Thats Fierce!" all the time?

Best comedy ever probably. Too bad all the references to prior episodes and subtle jokes, sometimes just stuff in the background, are beyond the average marginally intelligent viewer to appreciate. Still I can't believe it was cancelled.

It's great. If you didn't watch it get the DVDs. Well worth it.
