A few years ago I enrolled in an informal postbac - bio I, chem I and phys I. I quit my job to do this, and I didn't exactly have everything worked out financially. By the schools' regulations, I was enrolled as a graduate-level, non-degree seeking student taking undergraduate courses.
A month into classes with my financial situation still unresolved, work offered a substantial raise to come back, and I took it. Required me to travel for additional training immediately for an extended period. I called the school about withdrawal deadlines and asked specifically about my status as a graduate-level, non-degree seeking student taking undergrad courses. I was told that I was subject to the graduate deadline, which was about a week after the undergrad one. Being an idiot, I waited all the way until that deadline to show up on campus and drop the classes. When I got to the registrar's office, I was told that I was subject to the undergrad deadlines. In retrospect, that makes sense, given that I was taking undergrad courses. But I didn't do much to fight it other than asking to talk to a supervisor, and there was not one on duty. I presume Fs for all three courses unless I magically got dropped from the course rolls.
Fast forward five years to last spring. Thinking about transitioning to nursing, I started taking the generic pre-reqs that apply to nursing/PA/med, not worrying about my idiot semester. So far, I've got a 4.0 in Bio I&II, Chem I&II, Phys I and A&P I. Currently have As in Org. I, Phys II and Genetics. Got a 29 on first practice MCAT without all the coursework.
Undergrad 3.2 GPA in history at top liberal arts school with upward trend
Semester of Fs that should have been Ws
4.0 in pre-req-ish science courses
Is it really as simple as those Fs being replaced with the As on the D.O. application service? Obviously, they hurt my app, and I will certainly be asked to explain it interviews. Sorry for the long post for such a simple question!
