Just received an email from ASDOH. They have invited me for an interview on September 15 or 17. Would anyone else be attending the interview on one of those dates? Also, anyone know what to expect? I am pretty excited and want to be prepared. It was my top choice.

Congrats! When was your ASDOH app considered complete and forwarded?

Cool! Thanks! Do you mind my asking your stats?

I will be going as well. Not sure what day yet.

Congratulations! I will be going down to Mesa on Wednesday the 16th and interviewing in the morning. Have you heard anything about the dexterity test? If I find out more I will let you know what it entails...

Again congrats! ASDOH is my top choice as well... don't want to be unprepared🙂

Anyone going down on 10/15 for an interview?

What's the best hotel to stay at?

I've got an interview the morning of the 15th. I'm pretty nervous, it's my first one. I'm curious to know if anyone knows about hotels and stuff as well. Thanks!

Anyone have hotel recommendations?
Traveling down on Nov. 4th for a interview on morning of the 5th.

Hey just to let you all know, super shuttle has super affordable fares for getting around phoenix. I am taking it from the airport to the school and its $29 each way.

Hotel Recommendations
I stayed at LaQuinta Inn and Suites next to PF Chang's and Chipotle. They offer a free shuttle to/from ASDOH and the service was great. I also booked an airport shuttle through supershuttle. The hotel is 5 min drive from the school. they offer free continental breakfast. I think I paid under $100 for one night

I just checked the receipt. I paid $79.77 total for one night. It was the discounted rate for AT Still University, that ASDOH is a part of. The exact name of the hotel is laQuinta Inn$ Suites Mesa East. You have to call them directly to get a special rate. Their phone is 480-654-1970

If anyone is wondering, ASDOH is still giving out pre-dec interviews but they are "filling up fast."

Does anyone know what exactly ASDOH is looking for in an applicant? I applied there and did a good amount of research on the school. Also loved the Mesa area. Got rejected right away. Stats are not amazing, but pretty solid. I wasn't sure if it was because I am from the east coast or what? I know no one knows why people get rejected, but for those who have interviewed, did they mention what they wanted??

community service x 10^6. but seriously, they really are looking to raise community leaders and heads of dental clinics, so they like to see significant amounts of volunteer community work.

Ohhhhh. I got ya. Well that seems respectable and now I know why I got rejected (sigh). Good school though and good luck to all those interviewing. Thanks for the info.

I can tell you a little about the interview; I had one there last year. I had 8 interviews total, and ASDOH's was by far the most hardcore. There was the usual tour and financial aid presentations and everything, and then they had us work in a group and do a presentation on something regarding dental ethics, while there was one person observing for every person working in the group. Then we had a manual dexterity test, like this here: http://www.benefitsnowshop.co.uk/pr...rity_Tests/Purdue_Pegboard_Dexterity_Test.htm where basically you have to put pegs in holes as fast as you can. You also have to stack washers and spacers on the pegs a few times, since you do the test several times, in a group.
Then you have the interview, which is the scariest part. They have the questions (which are rather hard, at least one was ethical and at least one was philosophical) written down on a paper that is taped to the desk and there are two people there staring at you and looking at you sternly and taking notes as you answer.
Despite the harsh interview, it looks like a really cool place to go to school, but I hear that only 1 in 7 (if I remember right) of people who interview there get in. It might have been even less than that.
Good luck!

Wait, are you serious?? That's crazy. I mean its logical, but seems excessive compared to other schools

I'm interviewing next month and considering to rent a car because it would be more convenient and allow me to take a look around the city. But does anyone have any idea how long it would take from ASDOH to the Phoenix Airport?

Yep, I'm serious. It was excessive. Way more stressful than anywhere else I interviewed. But I guess part of it is seeing how well you work under pressure.

And, pacific2013, and anyone else, do rent a car. I took a taxi one way and a shuttle the other. I can't remember how much the shuttle was, but the taxi was $55, and I remember calculating it and finding that it would have been much cheaper to rent a car. I can't tell you how long the trip was, but google maps can.

definitely rent a car. I rented using their enterprise discount and it was $111 for a two day rental. it's comparable with taxi-ing and much more convenient.

plus you are not at the mercy of cab companies on when you arrive for your interview.

Hey the ASDOH interview was definitely my most difficult too last year but don't worry. You always just need to know that if anyone is giving you a hard time, it's nothing personal. I totally had a good cop and bad cop in my interview and I know that they are both wonderful people. I left my interview not knowing if I had bombed it or not, but you just need to stay on top of the questions and be HONEST. This is a wonderful school and I am soooo happy to be here. The support for students here is unreal, we have wonderful administrators who really want you to do well. Good luck to all!!

it's about 20-30 minutes or so. hit me up if you have any questions about mesa or anything.

Hey everyone,

I have an interview coming up and while I was re-reading their website, I realized that English requirement is 3 semester/4quarter! I find it very odd that the school requires not 3, but 4 quarters worth of English. I have taken 3 quarters of writing/english and other social science but was this brought out to your attention at the interview because I heard you will meet with someone individually who will go over the pre-reqs.
