I think that ASDOH is probably the most intense about incorporating public health and community minded dentistry into their programs, but i wouldn't say they are the "only one".
They are the only ones, to my knowledge, where you earn a graduate certificate in public health just for being at the school. It is interwoven into their curriculum and you have the option of earning an MPH concurrently after the certificate. Also you need A LOT of volunteer hours to be considered.
But many other schools have you do rotations at public health clinics and community centers. And i speculate that public health is not really discouraged at other schools, just not an emphasis. I would agree that it seems that Western is starting to follow in ASDOH's footsteps though.
Dean Dillenberg did receive his MPH from Harvard and worked for non-profits and health care policy boards for over 10 years. He is really the life blood of the community minded dentistry!
