How many hours of volunteering are the norm? Ive been reading some people say 800 and others say 200 at least. This is not counting clinical/shadowing hours?

If you call and ask, two different people will probably give you two different answers too. If it's been quality over a long period of time, hours take care of themselves.

I heard they like to see at least 400 hours but it also depends on the type of hours. For example 300 hours working with a few organizations (ronald mcdonald house, habitat for humanity, environmental causes) looks much better than 800 hours at 5ks or something like that. As long as you have quality hours with something that you can show you're passionate about you'll be fine. Make sure to write about it in the secondary. Quality over quantity!

i don't think there is a set requirement they just look heavily at it and people with more hours are favored
