I recently had my interview at this school and let me just say this: it is freakin' awesome. I'll admit that I had some preconceived opinions going in, but quickly realized that it is truly a great school, with some very innovative ideas and philosophies on dentistry.

The interview and related activities were definitely different than one might expect, but very easy to get through. I was very impressed with the sim lab. All of the D2s I spoke with seemed to enjoy the facility, the people, and the modular style. Everyone also seemed to like the fact that they take the boards after an intense first year of didactic training.

Most impressive was the clinic. It seems like, in contrast to many other dental schools, clinical experience is very easy to come by at ASDOH. In addition to the busy on-site clinic, D4s can participate in a variety of externships throughout the nation (basically a GPR).

In summary, ASDOH far exceeded my expectations. 👍

Hey jrm, congrats, it sounds like you had a really great experience. I'm pretty stoked to interview there in a few weeks too, as I have high expectations. Could you elaborate a bit about what you think are innovative ideas and philosophies? Thanks!

Seriously I felt the same way. I really hope I get an acceptance letter from them. Hands down my top choice is ASDOH!

For one thing, as I said, students finish didactic training in one year. They also have the externships, which is unlike any other school. Third, they offer the graduate certificate in public health (and you can get an MPH by taking six additional classes). They use a modular system, which essentially means that you get your own little workstation and perform many procedures on the same "patient."

As far as their philosophies, I just got the general sense that they tend to focus on underserved populations. They also seem eager to try new things and implement various pilot projects to see what does and does not work.

Hope that helps, and good luck at your interview 🙂

Just wondering if anyone that interviewed after Dec. 1st has heard any feedback from the school yet? Whether it be good or bad... :luck:

Oooohhh!!! This thread is making my future interview with ASDOH even more exciting!!

I've purchased my plane tickets last week, and booked a room with Country Inn this morning.

The darn thing is that the interview website doesn't have any openings for Jan 22nd as of yet.

Nan told me that they're trying to fill up the Jan 8th and 16th days first.

My friends even told me ASDOH has great brand new facilities, etc.

I'm definitely looking forward to my January interview.
