So I have been wanting to do an online pharmacy technician program so I can become a technician. Yes, I know you don't need to actually go to a class to be certified but I feel this would be the best option for me.
Does anyone know anything about the Online Pharmacy Tech Programs at Ashworth? Is this a legit program?

-If you're not sure about this online program do you know of any that you would suggest?

To be as honest as possible, I see very little point in a pharmacy tech program much less an online pharmacy tech program. I can't say whether this particular program is good or not, but most of what makes a good tech is:
1. Being proficient with the pharmacy's computer system
2. Knowing the pharmacy's protocols
3. Customer service

None of these things can really be taught by a tech program since the chain pharmacies use different systems and protocols.
Sure, I suppose hospital techs should know how to make intravenous drugs and techs in compound pharmacies may need to know about compounding. But what's the point in learning this from an online program when these require hands-on experience/practice? Also, retail jobs outnumber hospital jobs by alot.

I've had a tech come from one of these programs once before. And at least in the beginning, she was also one of the worst techs I've worked with.

I would just buy a ptcb book, study up a little, and take the exam. There's very little advantage to it. The rest you can learn on the job with training.
