Hey guys

I'm a California resident applying this cycle, and I need a little help with my school list. My stats are as follows:
GPA:3.93
sGPA: about 3.8
MCAT: 33 (11 PS, 8 V, 14 BS)

I attended a good, but not top undergraduate school for 4 years, taking a gap year and currently working as an EMT.
About 60 hours of shadowing various physicians and 100 hours volunteering in a hospital. Taking a gap year to get more clinical experience.
I was very involved at my undergraduate school and played a couple years of a D3 sport. I have probably around 200 hours of community service including many unique experiences involving my sport and children with limited opportunities.
Extensive tutoring experience, also worked as a supplemental instructor and lab grader for an o-chem class.
A year of wet lab experience and a couple years of dry lab experience with poster presentations at two ACS conferences and my school's undergrad research conference. No publications 🙁

I compiled this list based off of my GPA and MCAT range, OOS friendliness, and suggestions I've seen given on this site. Probably should add some more safety schools in here, especially because California schools are so competitive. I'd appreciate any advice I can get. Looking to apply to 20-25 schools. Thanks!!!

UC Irvine
Keck
Geffen
UC Riverside
UCSD
UCSF
Stanford
UC Davis
Loma Linda (maybe)

Boston
Tufts
St. Louis
Drexel
Mayo
Duke
Hofstra
NYMC
Tulane
Penn. St.
MC Wisconsin
Creighton
Dartmouth
Georgetown
VCU
Einstein
Albany
Jefferson PA
Brown
V-tech
Vermont
Temple
EVMS
Colo - Denver
Wake Forest

Any schools I should take out, or schools I should consider adding? Trying to cut 10 or so off the list. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I'm not a minority, if that makes any difference! I also haven't taken anatomy or physio, but I don't think that makes a difference for these schools.

I suggest the following:

U AZ (both)
U VM
USF Morsani (maybe)
Miami
St. Louis
Albany
Albert Einstein
Rochester
Rush
Rosy Franklin
BU
NYMC
VCU
EVMS
Wake Forest
Jefferson
Temple
Drexel
Creighton
George Washington
Emory
USC
Tulane
Loyola
Creighton
Any new MD school. Skip Central MI and the three new FL schools.
UCD
UCI
UCR (if you're from the Inland Empire)
UCLA (maybe)
Any DO program, start with Touro-CA and Western

More help might be in the "WAMC" thread in case someone can direct you there.

am I missing something? why aren't you applying to more "top-10" schools?? (hint: all of them)

a 33 isn't "all top-10 school" material, necessarily. Especially with a verbal of 8.

Thank you for the advice Goro, that's a great list!
Unfortunately U of A at phoenix requires physio, and some of the schools you listed don't seem to be very OOS friendly (Miami and Rosy specifically), but that definitely helped!

I did a little more research and put together 22 schools I will most likely apply to, and 8 more that I will choose 3 from to apply to as well to total 25.

Most likely will apply to:
UCI, USC, UCLA, Stanford, UCSD, UCR, UCD, U of A Tuscon, George Washington, Vermont, VCU, Einstein, Albany, NYMC, Boston, Tufts, Dartmouth, Jefferson, Saint Louis, Drexel, Creighton, and MC Wisconsin.

Will probably choose 3 more of these 8 to apply to:
Hofstra, Wake Forest, Colorado, Tulane, EVMS, Georgetown, Temple, and Virginia Tech.

Any suggestions on which final three schools I should add, or anything I might be missing with this list?

Thanks again for responses, I appreciate the help!

Know that schools like Tufts, Boston, Georgetown, and Temple receive a ton of apps and can be largely a crapshoot.

Not sure what your age is, but you should know the Giesel's average matriculant age is somewhere in the 28 range.

From your last 8 schools: Tulane and Temple would probably be good.

All in all a solid list but you gotta realize Dartmouth is 85% non traditional(s). You simply don't fit that description regardless of stats. You're going to apply to Stanford regardless just realize a 33 probably isn't going to cut it. As others have said GW, NYMC, Boston Drexel and Tufts are all low yield schools due to their over flow of applications. Apply if you want just know that going in. Out of your final 8 you want to choose from; Wake Forest, EVMS, Tulane are probably your best choices. I would avoid Georgetown and Colorado out of those final 8 as a guide also.

Thanks for the advice GrapesofRath. I am actually starting to reconsider applying to Stanford and Dartmouth. I will do more research, but I'm leaning towards adding Wake Forest, Tulane, EVMS and possibly Hofstra or Temple to my list to replace Stanford and Dartmouth.

Very thankful for all the SDN members, this site has been extremely helpful for me.

A 33 is very very good. With a 3.9 and varsity college athletics, all "top-10" schools should be considered!

Keep in mind the average median MCAT score for top 20 schools is slightly above a 36 (if you removed University of Washington, it would be nearly 37), so a 33 is >3 points below that. Varsity athletics by itself will not make up for that score difference, even if an applicant does have a stellar GPA.
