So I switched to ATT 2 months ago b/c I was tired of Tmobile. I got the free phone at the time in anticipation of the new iphone 3G. Well since I am still in my 2 year contract, I am not eligible for the reduced iphone price of $199. The stupid sales guy lied to me when I signed up b/c I specifically asked if I would be eligible. So if I want the iphone I have to pay the full price of $399 for the 8G!

The other option- I have a corporate discount thru my hospital which gives me 40% off any ATT phone EXCEPT the iphone. What is the next best PDA (w/ 3rd party med applications)? Is the palm centro or treo?

I am hatiing ATT right now!

I'm sure if you're vocal enough with AT&T they might let you have one anyhow. I hope you didn't stand in line for three hours to figure this out!

I installed 2.0 on my first gen iPhone. ePocrates is pretty nice on it, and the apple remote app is a must have if you stream music like I do (computer is upstairs, home theatre receiver is downstairs).

I checked it out online and confirmed it with customer svc on the phone. I really wanted this phone but I can't see myself paying $400 for the 8G version. I wonder if speaking to the mgr. at my local att store might make a difference. The only reason I switched to ATT was the stupid iphone and the option for nights starting earlier than 9pm and the whole rollover thing. I don't have the first gen iphone...just some crappy free nokia phone that I was going to use until the iphone came out.

Or just email AT&T's CEO.

well, since the lines are supposedly long i might just wait a couple of weeks before trying to sort this out.

how accessible is that email address?
As soon as I get home I'll give it to you. I have a bunch of emails printed out. It definitely got some attention because the reply I had showed that a BUNCH of people were carbon copied, including AT&T's legal department (the power of Google).

Wow thanks! I thought my head would explode when I was told that I wasn't eligible for the phone that I have been waiting for so long.
