At what point should you give up?

This is awful advice.

Going to a carib school with poor grades and a sub par MCAT on multiple attempts is paramount to setting your money on fire.

meh if he wants it he can gamble, thousands do it....might not get the outcome he wants but if you really really want the MD, with those stats your best bet is going Carib

and let's not forget that some of those Carib grads do actually end up matching in Canada or USA. it would take so much effort for a 20 MCAT but I mean there is that slight possibility

Did you miss the part when I said "...doesn't anger me"?

That poster has been giving a ton of really sweet, but totally naive and completely misguided advice. The post below sounds like a synopsis of titanic, not of a realistic applicant.

Oh, it's OK @MrGravelli. Cliche just disagrees with me so hard that he's sniping 3-day-old content. All of SDN must know just how bad my "tenacity" advice is.

Just keep it coming.

I'll wait till you hit third year. Or see life outside the meadow you frolic in.

I'm just here to inform you that the world doesn't really work as it seems to in your bubble. Nothing personal, obviously.

So let me get this straight: you'll wait until my 3rd year before you say any more snide and irrelevant things about me or my advice? Sign me up! :poke:

More than happy to discuss our favorite frolicking meadows over PM. While I'm sure you've had your share of brambles, I don't think I'm the kind of soft target you're looking for.

Happily. Just keep the unrealistic and potentially damaging advice at bay and you'll get your wish probably for far longer than you intend.

Rose colored glasses are great and all, but sometimes you have to take them off. I admire whatever brambles you've kept them through. My dig was more at your username than your life experience.

Carrying on then.

@holidayprincess is the adult between the two of you.

Glad to be able to offer my input.

All the best.

Shhh sock puppet, the adults are talking.

Like seriously though, WTF was that? :wtf::whoa:

Reverse psychology.

And just because I disagree with someone like @holidayprincess doesn't mean I dislike them. I've kicked it with a few people on SDN including some whom I've disagreed with about things on here, but the reality is that there's a lot more to a person and even though we've disagreed in person about the same and similar things, we still found plenty to agree on or discuss and have a good time.

Holy cow. A lot's happened since yesterday.

I don't dislike you either, RTC. I remember seeing your other content and you strike me as some kind of resident antagonist. You're great at it, and I can see why some folks take the bait. RIP to those folks.

I just think you're picking the wrong disagreement here. And you're disagreeing without really saying anything. Where I come from, grit and tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds mean valor. Where you are, being smart and well-prepared in the face of loads of material make a successful student. Instead of emphasizing why that difference is important, or why your experience is more relevant, or how both pieces of advice are useful in the right operating environments, you're content to poke fun. No problem.

You might have what it takes to change my mind, though. I just wouldn't bet that I'll ever get to hear it, or that it's even the reason you're posting in the first place.

I actually don't disagree with what you said here at all. Grit and tenacity are pretty much the cornerstone of medical education... like you're going to have to pick yourself up every time you struggle because it's really easy to give up and say fark it given how intense it can be at times. I just disagreed with your advice in that other thread. That's all there is to it!

🙂
