Hi,

I was wondering if I would have any chance to getting into medical schools if I attended CSULA for pre-med?

Also, some education background, 2.8 gpa at community college, transfered to a UC graduated with 3.51 overall, cum laude and dean's list last quarter. Is there any chance I would even get into med school if I had good grades for pre-med?

Thanks

Yes. Get good grades and you'll be fine.

Is the 2.8 from community college going to hurt my chances?

Unless your 3.51 includes your 2.8 jc record, then yes. It means your overall is actually lower than 3.51. But what can you do about it? If you haven't taken any sciences and do well in the prereqs, it'll help your chances. Don't worry about your current gpa now. Worry about doing well in each and every course you take from now on.

edit: Actually, if you really want to know where you'll stand after prereqs, I'd make a spreadsheet of grades.

How do I go about calculating my gpa from CC and 4 year university? One is a semester, the other is a quarter system.
