Hi!
I have some very exciting news regarding the National Association of Medical Examiners (www.thename.org).
At the 2007 Annual Meeting (Savannah, Georgia 10/12/07 - 10/17/07) there is going to be the first ever Medical Student/Resident/Fellow Meet & Greet (i.e. Beer & Chips). It is tentatively scheduled for Saturday 10/13/07, and will be an official NAME-sponsored event. Yours truly will be the hostess! The purpose of this is 2-fold: 1) so we can all meet one another--its a small field! and 2) to try to foster more interest in forensics.
If you are interested in forensic pathology, this is a great conference to thoroughly absorb yourself into the issues/controversies of the field with a bunch of like-minded individuals. I know that forensic-oriented folks can be frustratingly hard to find in the hospitals. Plus, there is generally a $500 "Best Resident Paper/Presentation" award distributed every year.
Abstracts are due in April, so keep it in mind. You don't need an abstract to attend, of course, but its nice to push the scientific envelope (particularly in FP) as well.
Feel free to PM me if you want. I am happy to answer whatever questions I can.
Best regards,
Mindy
