AUA Closes Veterinary Medical Program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We have a former Antigua student in our class that transferred in last semester. He said it was an awful program and experience. Didn't they only have like 10 people in a class?

yeah i was pretty skeptical, but dang that really stinks for anyone who decided to take that chance!

I was going to comment that there was an AUA student at my school.
And then I realized that you changed your avatar.

Dang, that's kind of crazy to close in the middle of the semester...

I wonder if this has anything to do with Ross and SGU receiving their accreditation this year. Both of them being accredited takes away the benefit that AUA students would have otherwise had from transferring to US schools to complete there degree there.

This is kind of the pitfall of the for-profit education industry. If there isn't money to be made, then the schools go away(in this case suddenly).

My guess is (since I dodged that bullet, thankfully) that the appeal of the program was supposed to be that you could transfer to VA and complete the degree there, but they couldn't make good on the promise. I considered going, and while searching the internet, I found an (internal?) memo from VMRCVM that said that they would only accept transfers if students in their program dropped out. There were no allocated seats for AUA students, apparently. Again, just my guess. Trusted my gut to make the decision...thanks, gut!
