Now here is my prediciment. I have applied to 20 schools and heard nothing after completing my secondaries by mid October. I have had three rejections (UCSF, Albany and Eastern Virginia).

I have one more letter, sort of my heavy hitter, in the pipeline that will shoot out tomorrow. A very strong rec from my PI and former faculty at UCLA med school (on admissions board).

I need to stay proactive and desire to call and visit one nearby school.

Can anyone recommend tactful ways to do this?

What else can I do?

I was told by a doctor, that after having gone through the whole process herself the one piece of advice she could give me was to write personal statements to all your schools (whether they ask for it or not), and to send all your LOR's that you have (ie if they only ask for science profs, send them those AND a couple more). However, I don't think a visit is appropriate. When I called my local med school to see if I could talk to someone, they told me flat out that it was inappropriate for me to see anyone that has anything to do with admissions. They were nice though, and let me talk to other students, let me attend a class, and felt if I talked with the profs there it would be okay. But you can't talk to anyone on the admissions committee, or in the admissions administration. So I'd say keep writing your letters and have more letters sent, if you haven't already done so. But that's about all you can do, unless you want to call to get a status check. Sorry you don't have any interviews yet. If it makes you feel any better I don't either. 😳

I am settling with a phone call followed up by a snail mail!
Bring on the poll responders!

I have more than you, for sure. And more acceptances too.

I'm in the same boat.....I have rejections but no interviews and all my stuff was complete by november. I've tried to call to ask for status reports but as of right now, I don't think there's much we can do. The only thing I can do is focus on brushing up my application in case I need to reapply. Hence I am preparing to retake the mcat and take a few courses to boost up my science GPA (I hope 🙂).

Hang in there!
