Hey everyone just got back from taking the DAT.

Here are my score:

Orgo 25
Gen Chem 25
Bio 20
QR 20
Reading 19
PAT 15 🙁

The natural sciences were head on based on the materials i used. The organic and gen chem was somewhat challenging but it was exactly what i was averaged on top score and kaplan. I also used the DAT Destroyer which definitely prepared me well and gave me the confidence to go through the test knowing that I saw every possible variety of problems.

For the bio i also used the Destroyer but i complented that with Kaplans Blue Book and Acheiver. It wasnt my strongest point but through practice i felt confident to pull of at least a 20 and was actually alittle surprised that i got a 20 i thought it wouldve been like a 23.

The reading has never been my strong point and somehow i managed to pull of a 19 so anyone who is having trouble in this section have good faith and stick through it you should be more than fine.

Now as for the Quantitative Reasoning i was very dissapointed with my score. MY QR reasonign practice scores from Kaplan Topscore and Achiever all ranged from 22-27. So i was pretty dissapointed to see a 20.

FInally the perceptual ability another huge dissapointment. Kaplan, Barrons, Top Score every single source i used i can straigh out say was not helpful at all. MY best sections of keyholes cube counted and hole punchign turned out to be the hardest on my test. I was averaging between 19-21 on the PAT so when i saw the type of questions i was shocked and couldnt do much but struggle through the section.

It was truly great to get to know you this summer! The true leader of the Romano group, you have always made yourself available to help others and to offer your words of advice. Your scores are beyond incredible, and you maintained the high standard of success that all of us at Romano Scientific aspire to achieve. Under the pressures of my test day, I only hope to be able to follow in your footsteps.

The cube countign letme tell you man i am as sharp as anyone in the cube coutning. However, on the test it was some crazy figure and their were liek five so not enough time. The whoel PAT was like a nightmare i was avergaing between 18-21 and i got a 15.

Rockstar, the constant bid for Dr. Romano is pathetic. How can you not feel bombarded with all of the constant marketing going on. It is sickening. As if we didn't know there are extra materials out there that can help you study. And that Dr. Romano offers the DAT destroyer and it can only help to have as much information as possible.

I've tried to get a used copy a couple of times so I could accurately assess it. But seriously, it's getting to be too much. We don't have spokes people for all of the other dat prep materials. Yet, the same people or even worse, brand new posters sign on here to talk of the glory of Jim Romano and his book.

I have nothing against the materials itself, and I bet Dr. Romano really does teach his students well. The advertising is annoying. I assume the more people make fun of his stuff, the quicker he will stop with the guerilla marketing that hasn't been warmly accepted in the SDN pre-dent community. (except for the other Romanoans pronounced Ro-muh-no-ans)

yep yep. but anyway, this guy's score is solid. but most schools have a minimum of 16 for all sections. his 15 pat'll automatically disqualify him to a solid vast majority of schools, regardless of his high science. he should retake.

See I view it way differently than you. Dr. Romano used to come on these forums and answer questions. I think some pre-dents thought it wasn't real, but it was. So a few people made some comments and it got blown way out of proportion. The people you see thanking DR. J on here were actually students at Romano Scientific.

In his lectures Dr. Romano uses the DAT destroyer simply because he wrote it. It makes sense right? So these students are coming on here posting there scores just like everyone else, the only difference being they used destroyer materials. They don't claim it is the only thing they used. They talk about Kaplan, Topscore, and Achiever as well. Thats not advertising. Look I have said this before and I will say it again if you have doubts call Dr. Romano yourself.

I would post his phone number, but then some genius on here would probably try to say I am "advertising"

I don't think I could have put it better myself.

I found out about Dr. Romano here on SDN. Thank goodness he was posting responses. I didn't email him right away because my initial thought was that this was BS. But at that point, there really wasn't anything to lose. I think it was the best decision for test prep I could have made.

To those who don't like it, my best advice would be to skip the post unless you are looking to pick a fight.

Dr. Romano is providing a great guide to assist in studying for the DAT to get the kind of scores to wow schools; he doesn't claim to work magic nor is he taking your money and sending you nonsense questions to cheat you of your money. It's a fair trade.

For me to have taken so much from this forum and not give back by letting everyone know about what's helped me would be a great disservice to new DAT takers. I don't get any kickbacks. I'm just a grateful pre-dent who now has a ray of hope.

oh man, almost forgot about the OP: Law congrats!!!! thank you so much for gen chem. you really helped easing my stresses about the subject.

I'm going to throw that one right back at ya. In all honesty, I don't know if you just happen to skip posts that I read (which I highly doubt, because you post in more threads than I do) or you happen to just filter out all of the Dr. J praise.

You really think all of his students are just doing a little shameless thanking on here? As if they couldn't say it in person, since they took his class. Or they could call him up? SInce he offers to talk on the phone. The only reason to constantly have lines like:

: is to constantly advertise. The whole sublimonal thing might go over your head, or perhaps you just don't care. But I am just a little tired of the shameless pimping. In all honesty, I was going to go ahead and purchase his DAT destroyer kit and give it a go. But I am so turned off by the way the students try to make him out to be more than what he is. Which I am assuming he is a good teacher with a lot of knowledge about the dental profession and dental schools.

This poster and you are the only two who seem to be somewhat subjective.

Rockstar and Clover couldn't be more correct in this discussion. They have personal experience with Dr. Romano and they shouldn't be frowned upon for expressing their views. The students who post on SDN and give thanks to him are not receiving anything in return - they are simply doing it as a means of expressing their sincere gratitude and are also trying to help other predents become aware of a book that has helped them achieve superior scores. Sorry if you don't see it my way, but these are the facts.

Enough said! Thanks for helping me understand where I was wrong. Have you or your classmates noticed the condescension that leaks from your keyboard and onto this site. The odor is strong and after a while people get tired of it.

Congrats on your score. Be proud of that 20 in QR... I know it was well deserved. Don't sweat the PAT too much. I think you'll be fine.
