Is any other person who took the Augsut MCAT feeling like they never actually applied? I mean honestly besides one rejection I havent heard a peep from anywhere else. I was expecting to hear from at least a few places within a month from MCAT scores being posted. I guess not. I have heard G-town rejections usually come a week after your file is complete.... where is mine?, at least then I would actually know I am not on the ignore list of med schools. My files were complete minus MCAT scores in late September, anyone else in the same boat?

Oh yeah. I hear ya'. I'm still waiting on 6 secondaries (or rejections, I guess). I've gotten 3 rejections and 1 secondary invite since the August scores have posted. It's looking pretty grim. But, like everyone keeps saying, there is still time. I know this waiting sucks though. I feel your pain!

Wow, we are in exactly the same boat. I also took the Aug MCAT and have a similar score (a lopsided 32), and have also only received one rejection and heard NOTHING else. I feel the same way, like where did all my applications (and money) go? I check my e-mail and status check sites obsessively, and I'm complete at 15 schools (well, minus the one rejection), so what's going on? The waiting is driving me crazy. If I don't get an interview soon, I don't know how I'm going to deal with it. I knew taking the Aug test would slow things down, but I'm starting to wonder if I wouldn't have been better off applying early with the 29 I had from the Aug 2003 test. 😕

I got really excited yesterday when I had a letter from tufts in my mailbox. When I opened it, I soon realized it was merely a notification of a complete secondary. They really love F***ing with our heads don't they.

Call the admissions office and ask them what kind of time line they usually have for letting people know either way after receiving scores. If they actually give you a period of time that is shorter than what you've been waiting, tell them, and ask if you can check on your application.

These people deal with hundreds (or thousands) of applications each year. Your app may have gotten lost in the shuffle or never transferred to the "to be considered" pile. I have heard many stories of how people never heard anything from a school, reapplied the next year, got accepted and then found out that their application had been lost. Or, after any chance was gone for that year, they called and asked to discuss ways to improve their app to find out that nobody seems to know why they didn't get interviewed/accepted.

OK, now that is f-up. If we send a school 100 dollars of our own money, there is no way they should "accidently" lose our applications. Do you think we should call every school to make sure that they have our apps and august scores? Isn't that kind of annoying.

Same boat here! Aug. MCAT, secondaries in, not a peep. Beginning to wonder if all that money I sent out and all those secondaries are just a dream.......

I also only filled out 9 secondaries (mainly 'cuz I'm broke)... I wanted to see what happened before I filled out and paid for the other 8 (with money I don't have). At this point, I'm just probably going to send them in by Thanksgiving.

(can't you see it? Baste the turkey - write another two sentences of essay - stir the gravy - write another two sentences of essay - break up fight between the kids - write another two sentences of essay - wipe gravy splatter off of application - write another two sentences of essay)

i'm in the same boat - 20 apps out and i've only heard from 3 schools: rejection from ucsf (to be expected) and 2 interview invites -- nymc and albert einstein. seems like things are going to pick up soon though.

True, I applied to 6 schools and files were completed before MCAT scores came out. Haven't heard anything yet, not even Rejection !!!!

For a 100 dollars a pop I expect the blackhole to be able to talk.... The scary thing is I know the schools claim to interview until april but alot of those are just for waitlists. Also how much interviewing gets done in December, I am sure its not a lot. People are on vacation and anything from Dec 20th - Jan 3 I am sure is nothing happening time. 🙁

The deal with us August MCAT'ers is that many of the schools have not gotten to our applications just yet. They are probably still sifting through the applicants who took the April MCAT and had their stuff complete before October. Although some schools are especially efficient and have sent out some interview offers to the August testers, most of the movement on our applications (i.e., interview offers) will be in January and February. Does that put us at a disadvantage? Sure, somewhat, but we already knew that. The important thing is that we are still in a good position if we get the chance to interview relatively early in the new year. Don't fret 🙂

I've been insanely impatient this week -- I've only received 1 invite out of 7 schools -- so I decided to call those that hadn't confirmed my being complete.

Found out that Sinai "lost" my application or some such nonsense. They had no trouble billing my credit card over two months ago, though!! I had to re-submit my secondary yesterday, which was very frustrating. I talked to the "supervisor" in admissions, who sounded like a college student. She said there was nothing they could do. I told her that there better be some serious grease applied to my application at this point. Anyway, you guys might want to confirm with those schools you haven't heard anything from.

Same boat here. Received all my secondaries. Finished sending them out today! 👍 Was complete at 9 schools by the second week of October. I haven't heard anything since... Except the rejection letter that I got from Wake Forest this afternoon... 👎

Sucks that the first thing I get is a rejection letter.... 🙁

I got the same letter. I opened it on the way into my apartment and the word interview caught my eye. That sent my heart racing.......until I saw that the rest of the paragraph said It was under consideration for a personal interview........I have got that same generic response from all the schools I applied to except GWU which gave me an interview (I think it was an aberration)

I was an August MCATer as well and I submitted my AMCAS in late July to 7 schools. Got 2ndary requests from all of them and then waited for MCAT scores. I had a 26 from April and wanted to improve a few points before I submitted (sub-par GPA). I got the scores back in October and sent my secondary in which was finally entered into the system on 10/22/04. I did not complete any other 2ndary's, all eggs are in one basketAnyway, point of the story is that I just got invited to interview at KUMC. I got the invite 11/9/04 and will be at KUMC on 12/1/04 for an interview.

I am life time kansas resident which helps out the whole process.

i've heard stuff but it's certasinly slower. You need to keep it in perspective. You knew we were at a disadvantage to begoin with but things will happen eventually. Keep the spirit up. Good luck!

Is anyone applying to ohio med schools as an August MCATer? Specifically NEOUCOM...I'm just wondering how long it took for them to send a secondary, invite for interview and all that stuff...I would appreciate any stats or advice if anyone has some to share! 😀
