Aussie Schools - Query

I'm in great dismay at the moment. I wish to study in Australia/NZ for vet med. Decided to leave good ol' Canada since i stand no chance here, and that Aussie seems like the perfect place to study it.
However, my grades are no where close to making their cut either (all be it thanks to my 1st year at uni). So i'm going to do courses elsewhere for the next while to raise my grades and try again. Uni Melbourne said they don't look very highly upon this. If this is the case, what else can i do?? I mean what else can i do to show that i want in their program no matter what?? All i can do is to take classes again and attain better grades. I know Massey is a little easier in the sense that they take your last 2 years, which i plan to do super good in (plus my GRE). But what of the Aussie schools? What should i do??

There are about five or six canadians in my class here at Murdoch Uni. I don't know what there actual grades were but I am sure they can answer some of your questions. Come to the forum at vetstudents.net

Go to the introduce yourself forum and you should find three or four to talk to who are already here plus there are a few Canadians who are on their way here also.
