Out of curiosity, does anyone know anything about the University of Queensland MBBS program?
Students do 2 years of preclinicals in Brisbane and 2 years of clinicals in New Orleans, at the end you practice in the U.S. According to their website, "students will be eligible for ECFMG certification, to take the USMLEs, for the NRMP match, and to practice medicine in the U.S." and the MBBS degree is equivalent to an MD.

What does this mean? Is it on par with a US med school or is it more like a Caribbean school?

Are there any other programs similar to this? I do really want to go to Australia but I don't want to go to Queensland (and I don't want to spend 2 years in Louisiana either..)

Hhmm, never actually looked at this site before. Don't they advertise on sdn a lot? The picture of the facilities look nice though.

I have done some reseearch on the program aka spoken with the director in NEw Orleans and in Queensland and done some reading on both websites. This is NOT like the Caribbean programs in that you are getting a world class education from a world class institution. Check: University of Queensland ranks just below the American Ivys right around where all the University of California schools rank. The program is very expensive though. Another option is to just apply to University of Queensland (or another AUstralian School) and then you have the opportunity to do 3 rotations in the United STates giving you letters of Rec from American doctors helping immensly with the getting a Residency/Internship in the United STates.
