So you know how every specialty has that one text which everyone owns/reads during residency. Think Tintanalli (EM), Harrisons (IM), or Campbell (Urology).

I was wondering if someone could point me towards the authoritative texts for the following (assuming there is an accepted "standard" text for these specialties):

1) Ortho
2) Cardiology
3) Gen Surg
4) Anesthesiology
5) Pulm medicine

Thanks

There is no single 'authoritative book' for General Surgery. Most people use a combination of textbooks for different areas of study, Greenfield, Schwartz, Sabiston, etc.

For Vascular Surgery, Rutherford's.

I'll take a look.

Also, lol at my spelling in the title. Please excuse, I posted at 0232 hours and had been up for over 36 hours at that point.

There aer 3 or 4 standard texts for EM, Tintinalli just happens to be the one in use at your program. Rosen's and Harwood & Nuss are the 2 typical alternatives.
the big name in ortho that I sometimes reference is Wheeler's iirc.

Edit: oops, I meant Wheeless, was the name of the book.

Anesthesia:
Miller's Anesthesia or Barash's Clinical Anesthesia

Anyone have the top pick for Neurology?
