Avascular Necrosis And Dexamethasone?

Does anybody have an article or case report citation for avascular necrosis of the femoral head/neck associated with dexamethasone use? I remember reading about it somewhere but can't find it. I always feel uneasy about using it in the OR...

Is it really that hard to find? 30 seconds later I can confidently tell you the case reports in the literature include multiple doses, so unless you see the same patient every day for several days, you should be safe in the OR.

You could have created that search faster than creating this thread.

We had a presentation at our AAAA meeting a couple years ago where that same question was raised - the doc giving the talk (former anesthesia faculty at USF) said he didn't think twice about it until a friend of his got AVN after a single dose of decadron for PONV prophylaxis. Now he never gives it for that indication.
