Guys,
Is matching in anesthesia possible for a DO who just passes their basic science years (Factoring in average boards, good rotations, and a couple of decent letters) ?

why not? anesthesia is popular these days, but contrary to what many would have you believe, it's not that competitive, except perhaps at a few select programs.

Did you take the USMLE and get around a 210 or so? If ya did that would be in your favor. Nobody cares about your basic sci years. Just apply broadly my man and go to 10 interviews.

Sounds like you have the same "stats" as I do, so we may be in the say boat. What are your thoughts about the DO match? Do you think you'll stick with allopathic only, or do both? I'm not sure at this point what would be the better route to take. Do you have any thoughts?

Hey guys-rather than re-hash this again, look for my other posts to other questions very similar to yours. I address just about every concern you have mentioned in the other posts. As far as DO vs MD programs, the unofficial word on the street is that MD anesthesiology is better. Mainly, (again rumors) that it easier to get better positions after you finish.

Also, if you look at the DO programs it seems each has its own separate applications, crazy, crazy dealines (all different). It is MUCH easier to even to APPLY for the MD spots......how ironic 🙄

Good luck!

Yes, maybe so but OU has 5-1 record vs TU.
(I am originally from Texas, but I went to UNT in Denton, no longhorn love here!)
