average step I this year?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
that 217 is an average of "recent administrations" and may or may not have anything to do with this year. the reality is that nobody really knows and that sort of data probably never gets released.

217 is probably a good estimate of the actual mean for the year, some people seem to be offended whenever this is stated, im not sure why. why is it a good estimate? Two reasons:
1. It came out around June, which is around the time when most (not all) people take their step 1.
2. Every person that I saw post something on this webiste about this years exam who commented on the mean seemed to reference 217.

This is information (the mean) has a high probability of being released at some point in time, maybe if not next year, then in a few years. Anyway 217 is a good benchmark to compare yourself to to see if you above average or below!

😡

anybody feel as though there were more high scores this year than most?

Based on the standard deviation on my score report a 260+ was actually only about 2 SD above the mean, whereas most years its at least ~3.

thoughts?
