Hey everyone!

I just wanted to know about the average debt that a medical student in the U.S will have after finishing up medical school. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not, I'll do everything to attempt to fix it. If it's not too personal, approximately how much do you suppose you'll owe after finishing med school?

I believe the average is lke 190k or something but its skewed because there are a lot of super rich people whos parents pay for it all so they don't have debt. Then there's the rest of us up around 300k. Google is your friend on this one though

Would you say that the ~190k-300k includes loans from undegrad? Or are we talking strictly only due to expenses following medical school?

Also skewed due to military and other scholarships.

Mine is 300k without undergrad loans and with very little cost of living loans (unexpected situations/ boards) taken out due to my husband working

275k at graduation with undergrad loans. It’ll be right around 300k after accrued interest in residency.
I’ve signed an employment contract for family medicine and discussed everything with a financial advisor.. I’ll just say paying it off won’t be an issue and far easier than I expected

<50k by graduation. That's from a tuition scholarship (they are rare, but do exist) and LCOL

144k, no undergrad debt and paid tuition from first year with savings from work during undergrad. Low cost of living area, in state tuition.

It's about 200k, but this number is misleading because ~20% of students have their COA(tuition + living expenses) paid in full by their parents, and there are others that got some help from their parents...

The typical student who has no help at all these days graduates with 250-350k in student debt.
