I'm usually turned off by programs that are mostly theory based anyway but everything else you listed sounds awful. Thank you for caring enough to give us the lowdown--saves us time and thousands of dollars.

I live in Portland and I love it, but I decided not to apply to Pacific for a couple reasons (namely, the cost of the 3 year programs and hearing from multiple OTs that their students are not well prepared for fieldwork). Thanks for listing all that out so coherently; it's much easier to take your word on these concerns than if it were some short "I HATE MY PROGRAM CUZ IT SUX" post. (I'm not alluding to anything I've read here; I just feel like complaints are often illiterate and poorly thought-out.) Good luck in the future and I hope you're able to get away soon.

Wow! That is very disappointing and unprofessional. I am a current student in the 3rd year of this amazing program. I feel compelled to respond as that information is not accurate and not reflective as an experience of the students in my class. I have learned more from my time at Pacific than all of my academic opportunities combined. This has been an incredible journey and one that has changed my life forever. I am also very close to students in our 2nd year class and I have a number of friends at UPS, USC, and Creighton. So I am very aware of a number of schools and students and their thoughts about the OT school. I can say without any hesitation Pacific is challenging, rewarding, thorough, life changing, hard, fun, and prepares you for the real world. My fieldwork experiences have shown me that I am prepared and the responses from them supports Pacific's collective success preparing students. Not everyone can handle a very intense program and not everyone will be a great OT and not everyone should be an OT. Life isn't always easy and when it is difficult don't blame someone else for your challenges. The faculty, staff, and students are all very supportive and encouraging. I can't imagine getting or expecting anything more from my time at Pacific. I was admitted to USC, UPS, EWU and Boston. I chose Pacific and would chose it again in a heart beat.

Hey babyblue33, thanks for your post on this matter, I am considering applying to pacific, I have some questions, what about this thing I hear that students from pacific are not prepared well for fieldwork? Is it true the school is more theory based and if so what are the benefits of such? Is all of this info I hear true, false, exaggerated, partially true? I want to hear both sides of the story and I by no means want to place any judgement on anyone or an entire program based off of one dislike. Thank you for the response in advance!

baby blue thanks for the glowing review..but can you address the OP's main points as to why the program leaves a lot to be desired?
