is it possible to apply to a residency program with intentions of doing 3 years there and then going straight into their two year plastic program without going thru the san francisco match?

if this is possible, would they give u any indication or guarantee that u will have a spot after u do three years in their general surgery program?

also, does anyone know the top 20 or so plastic places or know where to find out?
thanks!

That avenue has pretty much been closed with the emergence of the integrated programs which do the same thing. For program directors with non-integrated programs it makes no sense to take take half-trained surgeons (which makes their job harder) when they have large pools of people who want positions who will finish general surgery or even a # who have done that + some fellowship prior to starting (eg. hand). It is VERY rare now that people who match successfully won't have completed a full residency prior to starting
