was anyone here a rhodes scholar, beckkman, goldwater or any other major award winner that has made dental school or is applying?


what kinds of awards or scholarships do you think dschools like seeing? does it look bad not having any?

Scholarships and/or fellowships (especially if professionally related), academic or career awards, etc. all are fine to list on your app. Might sound insignificant, but something like an Eagle Scout holds a lot of weight to many individuals, too. Most applicants that I have met aren't Rhodes Scholars. So typically anything of significance that helps quantify who you are are helpful for us when we review apps.

I wasnt sure how they'd react to the frown, but I thought it'd be funny.

You actually put a frown face on your application? Wow... talk about drawing unwanted attention to a not so bright section of your application.

did you graduate with honors? magna cum laude? did you get inducted into phi beta kappa, sigma xi, sigma chi,etc? did you get an award for research, or volunteering? did you get awarded a summer research or summer opportunity? do you play sports in college and are you on all academic team, or did your team win nationals or something? (not sure about the sports, someone can help out, i don't play any, but i don't see why you can't put this on if it's really significant) things like this work for awards.

also keep in mind i think you only get 5 spots, so put the most prestigious awards on. best of luck.
