is doing an away elective or sub-I helpful for matching in ophtho? Which are the programs that you would recommend? What were your experiences in various programs?

check this site out:
http://www.eyerounds.org/rotations.htm, dr. doan started a database for students to provide feedback for ophtho rotations at various programs. where you should do one depends on where you want to be. if you want to go to iowa, do one at iowa. if you want to stay at wilmer, you should do one there.

i come from the camp that says that doing a sub-i helps you if you are interested in a particular program. others will tell you it doesn't. of the 6 of us who matched at doheny (USC), at least 3 of us did rotations there.
