Anyone have any input as to a good student rotation in the southeast?
I'm thinking about the following programs:
VCU
MUSC
MCG
Emory
Florida
Mayo Jacksonville
Miami

Any other recommendations would be appreciated too 👍

I was just down at MUSC for an interview. Charleston is an absolutely beautiful city...would be a great place to spend an away rotation.

Don't forget about UNC, too. The residents there are super-friendly, and Chapel Hill is also wonderful - a great college town feel. I talked with a 4th year from Georgia doing an away rotation there, and she said she was getting to do tons of cool stuff.

Thanks for the input. Charleston is awesome...in-laws live there (and have a boat - weekend booze cruises are awesome on Charleston Harbor).

did an away at florida. awesome rotation, great simulator experience, daily lectures just for med students, opportunities to work in the main or, va, ob floors, and block room. i basically did 2 weeks of main and one week regional. gainesville had tons of stuff to do on weekends, especially during football season. i highly recommend giving this place a look.

might be a little farther west than you want to go, but i interviewed at UAB two years ago, and was blown away by the quality of their program. awesome facilities, a dedicated anesthesiology librarian, more sick patients than you could possibly want, residents get out at 3pm, or get paid $60/hour to stay after that. probably worth a look....

Good suggestions all around. Trying to stay in VA, SC, GA and FL because I have family/friends in those parts, which make an away more convenient (also would be preferable to snag a residency spot in SC or GA d/t family). Residency appliction time, however, definitely going to broaden the scope.
