I have been on scutwork but I am curious as to how you chose your away rotations. Many of the reviews for programs there are several years old and may not be as applicable now.

Was it geographical? Or were you looking for rural EM v. urban EM? If anyone has had specific excellent or horrible experience, maybe they could share it on the forum?

Thanks

Come to ECU! We love the away students! Obviously, I wasn't an away student rotating through, but we have a lot of visiting students and they all seem to enjoy the rotation.

Location
Urban/county hospital

Base it on whether they have housing for you, or you have to find it yourself.
Some of them even let you stay for free.
I know that Jax and Cinti have housing for money, and Palmetto is apparently free.

yeah, palmetto is free- you stay in a big old house within walking distance. You share with all others doing aways at palmetto-ie lots of roommates. I think boys upstairs and girls are down. but hey, it free and flexible schedule.

Akron general puts you up in a hotel for free. Geisinger allows you stay in an apt (maybe with 1-2 roommates) for cheap (well, $150-200). Denver you have to pay which can be mucho mucho dolares. Hennepin you have to pay...pitt you have pay...that's all i can think of.

York: puts you up in the dorms and you get free meals.
