My favorite questionnaire question:
Question asked to the applicants and current residents: Did any dermatology program try to influence you by promising you incentives for ranking their program highly? (eg, future faculty position, special rotations)
Applicants - 5% yes, Residents - 3% yes
Program directors - 100% NO

Lovely article! Nothing was a surprise -- everybody knows that PD's across all specialties violate NRMP policy during their communication with applicants, but it was cool to see it bared to the public in a well-designed study. Hopefully Stanford knows how to keep their data hidden and truly anonymous - they obtained all the emails from ERAS (applicants), ABD (residents), and APD (program directors). I'd almost consider it borderline phishing.

A few years ago a laptop was stolen at Stanford that contained a database with employee information. I was doing research there at the time and was given some identity theft protection (along with all the other employees) because of it

Heh, who would expect anything other than 100% no from the PDs? Seriously, who'd be crazy enough to admit anything like that.
The numbers are actually a little bit lower than I expected from the applicant/resident end but then again if a program is so in love with you that they're offering stuff like that they're probably also offering a spot outside the match.

I find it interesting that Stanford wrote this article since they were known to have called at least one person promising a match during my cycle.
