Hello guys,

So I was very recently accepted to UF for pharmacy school. However, I already accepted my financial aid package (loans) from Nova. I submitted all my paper work including MPN, entrance interview thru fafsa, etc for nova and now I'm basically wondering if it's possible to cancel these loans completely because I want to attend UF. Anyone ever been in/ heard of a situation like this? Is it possible to now back track and decline the loans from nova? Nothing has been dispersed yet. I have so much anxiety right now :-(

Any advice/ comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, just get moving. This happens all the time.

Get a letter in the mail and in email to Nova immediately to let go of your seat. Accept your UF seat immediately as well. Use FedEx or similar to speed this part up.

Get on the phone with Nova's financial aid office and get them to start all the cancellations. Keep checking in day by day, by email if possible.

At the same time get on the phone with UF financial aid and let them know what's happening. Keep checking in day by day, by email if possible.

Your UF financial aid might be late, so plan ahead to have money for a month or two. Don't worry about having to come up with UF tuition - they know it's coming.

Be polite and friendly so that people will help you - it's your emergency, not theirs. You're going to have some people who are helpful, and some people who are not, and you have to be polite and friendly with both kinds. Own the solution, don't expect somebody else to care as much as you do. These folks get paid crap, and your premed opinion on whether they're good at their job has no effect whatever.

After the smoke clears make sure to review all the paperwork and all the online records. Keep copies of everything.

Best of luck to you.

Thank You so much! This is very encouraging. 👍

I'm sure you've already taken care of this, but I'll post anyways. I have heard of things like this; they happen quite often, actually. Just send them a letter.
