Just to let y'all know, I was called today for an interview invite. Only bad thing about it, is I am interviewing next week so they didn't give me much notice.

Oh well...thank goodness for being bumped from plane flights, cuz otherwise it'd be an expensive trip. I hope I do well, AZCOM would be top choice.

that's awesome...you should be made a moderator!!!

"Just to let y'all know, I was called today" to be notified of acceptance at AZCOM. "Only bad thing about it, is I am interviewing next week" at Touro and I decided to cancel it.

Hey NDESTRUKT, that's great that you heard from AZCOM! If you don't mind, did they call you or did you call them? I called them this past Monday and got an "unofficial" acceptance but have a hard time resting easy until I get the official word via a piece of mail. I know that we (Sep. 19 interviews) were supposed to hear from AZCOM no later than the end of next week and I'm just trying to figure out how they're going to contact me as well as trying to make plans regarding the other interviews I have coming up very soon. Thanks, snooze7.

I got my AZCOM letter in the mail today.

Thanks BU, I finally got ahold of the online admissions counselor that you mentioned and he told me I was in. See you next year, Snooze

Snooze,

They will contact you via a letter in the mail. It will include a matriculation agreement, technical standards form and also information about matriculation deposits (the first one for us was $250 by 12/16).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I got my rejection from AZCOM (my first choice) today too, so look out, you early interviewers. Word from AZCOM will get to you soon, one way or another - any day now.
Congrats to those of you who got in.

those of you that weren't so successful in getting in to azcom; what do you think went wrong?
i just got all my stuff in so i should hear from them whether or not i got an interview
i was just wondering what you guys thought was up; cause you had your apps in way early!
i'm just a little worried cause my gpa/mcat sucks and its not that early in the process any more!!

During my interview last year, I wasn't asked any DIFFICULT ethical questions nor was I given a myriad of hypothetical situations to respond to. The questions they ask aren't to set you up for failure--rather they want to know how you will respond to different situations. The purpose of the interview is to get to know you, understand your motivation to become an Osteopathic physician, and see if you are a fit with the school (in their opinion).

FowlersGap, you aren't TOO late. AZCOM usually stops interviewing by December and then starts up again in the spring (there are a number of people in our class--2007--who interviewed on the last day of interviews and who were accepted). During the interview, the interviewers do not see your scores/grades--they want to get to know more about you (at that point, on paper you are good enough to get in--now they want to see if you are a good match).

As for the heat--it is hot here during the summer, but winter should be great (it has already started to cool down). Besides--it?s a DRY HEAT 🙂

Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I hear you Sargon. I just got waitlisted at AZCOM which to me is basically a rejection. It wasn't my first choice but it's still a blow to the ego...🙄

Sorry to here that Slick. No worries though, you'll be heading to COMP for sure. I got an interview offer from COMP and it's my number one school as well. Keep your head up🙂

yeah my first choice is comp too
will hear from them in the next few days
i had my letters rushed there cause its my number one choice
the rest of my letters will get to the schools some time soon
i just wanted to get my file at comp complete

Thanks for the comforting words...
The only part of my "package" that is at all weak is my GPA, particularly my science GPA.
However, if that is the only reason that I got rejected then I feel like they wasted my time inviting me for an interview - interviews should be reserved for students whose academics meet their standards - otherwise you're wasting the time of everyone involved.

my opinion is...and it's different for every school so I don't know which this applies to. GPA and MCAT and all your other stats make you eligible for the interview...because yeah they're interested in you. The interview however does not determine your acceptance. The fact is, the Adcom is made up of many people...depending on the school up to 10-12 maybe. Only one or two of those people will be representing you in the interview. They have to convince the rest of the adcom to accept you in saying...I highly recommend...or whatever and then they look at the rest of your package. The people that don't get to know you or hear your story might be biased at the numbers...so I dunno. I heard that at most DO schools, the interview plays a bigger part than at the MD schools. I'm no expert though, so yeah...take what I said lightly - it's just what some faculty people from MD schools told me.
