I heard that AZCOM's interview is semi-blind- meaning that they do not have access to your scores and grades - is this true?

If it is, then here is another ques:

I have an interview in 2 weeks. I graduated from univeristy of florida in Biomedical Engineering.
GPA 3.1/3.1 - i worked full time to support myself - killed my grades
mcat 27
tons of healthcare exp both research and volunteer.

If the interview is semi-blind, should i bring up my poor GPA and discuss my need to work nearly full time? Or go on the assumption that AZCOM has looked at my scores and GPA and has decided that they are ok, and want to interview me just to get to know me and see how if i mesh with their system?

Thanks!

I interviewed at AZCOM last week. They made it very clear that if we made it to the interview they thought we could handle the rigors of medical school. I would suggest that you don't mention your grades and MCAT. Be personable and yourself and know your personal statements inside and out. You'll do great. They do an excellent job at making you feel comfortable. (I was still nervous though). Getting into med school is sooo much more than grades. They understand that. Good luck!

Dude... it's your opportunity to interview without them having a bias from seeing your poor grades. DO NOT DISCUSS THEM. That's my 2 1/2 cents.

Yes, it's true that the interviews are semiblind. You will come before three interviewers, and they will either recommend you or not recommend you to go thru the selection committee.

As an MSII at AZCOM, I would advise you not to discuss your gpa in the interview. The interview team is not there to screen you based on numbers. That is up to the actual selection committee. Great thing about DOs is that they really look at the whole picture.

Good luck!

Totally blind, which is awesome! They will make it very clear to you that you got an interview b/c they thought your #s made the cut. They are looking to see that you are a good match for the school and vice-versa. I had a great time at my interview there. It was very relaxed.
