AZCOM vs BCOM

Which would you attend all things considered?

What do you guys think between AZCOM and BCOM? As I am sure most of you know, AZCOM is very expensive relative to pretty much every other school. BCOM is entirely brand new starting the second class this August. Any advice on decision?
 
As much as I hate AZCOM, I'd pick AZCOM. BCOM is brand new and I see no advantages (other than cheaper tuition) than to attend AZCOM.
 
AZCOM.....plus take into account that while the tuition is high the COL is low-- cheap apartments outta make up for it to some degree.
 
In nearly every situation I would tell you to go to the cheaper school... Except this one. I personally would not take the risk on a brand new school that hasn't even graduated a class yet. Do they even qualify for federal loans yet?

No, only private loans.
 
There is no extra insight to this. BCOM will have private loans for one more year on top of being new.
 
definitely AZCOM. It may be expensive, but their faculty are great, and their clinical rotations are well established at pretty solid places (including major residency programs). Its easy for BCOM to promise things, but until you know what they can honestly bring to the table, take anything they say with a grain of salt and suspicion.
 
I interviewed at both programs. While AZCOM has a better reputation and eligibility for federal loans, there was something very charming about BCOM. They seem to have a warmer community. The faculty members were more candid and personal, and weren't afraid to break out of a stiff professional demeanor. The dean's presentation at AZCOM was all about the school's statistics and performance, which is fantastic, but the dean's presentation at BCOM started off with underserved populations and how they came to develop the program, and at the end he gave us his personal cell number if we had any questions. Ultimately I chose AZCOM but I think it's unfair to dismiss BCOM, especially if a student is looking for a particular setting or experience. Regardless of finances, a student should be happy at their school.

BTW -- should mention BCOM's using a virtual anatomy lab, in case that's a dealbreaker for some people (wasn't for me though)
 
Azcom. If cost was ever a concern, you should have applied to lecom.

Bcom won't have federal loans until your second year should you attend. When I spoke with the financial aid rep there, I realized that upon graduation you'll be expected to make separate payments to both the federal government and your private lender (Wells Fargo or what have you). It was very unclear if the private loans would qualify for the forgiveness programs that federal loans do.

I'm actually a bit of a bcom fanboy, but this isn't something you should ignore.
