AZCOM vs CUSOM

Have acceptances to both. I'm a native of Az, but I have a lot of family that lives near the school in NC. Originally, this was a no brainer, but after seeing the tuition difference between the two, I'm trying to figure out if the ~$20k in tuition/year is worth it.

I assume AZCOM is the more expensive of the two? I know a couple CUSOM grads who have done fine, but would pick AZCOM hands down based on reputation. Really up to you to decide whether the cost/benefit of a more expensive school is worth it.

Yep. Tuition at AZCOM is $67k, and they expect it to rise 4-7% per year.

CUSOM on the other hand is $46k.

Boy. Neither of those are a great deal. As an Arizona resident perhaps you would have decent chances for scholarships at AZCOM? Something to look into.

I emailed AZCOM and asked about institutional scholarships. They don't offer any, but there are some national/regional ones I could apply for (WICHE, NHSC, etc). Campbell on the other hand does offer some merit/need based aid. From what I've heard, I should be hearing from them soon-ish if I've been awarded anything.

AZCOM. They don't have mandatory attendance which makes the extra tuition worth it.

67 k/year!? Unless that includes a computer chip that downloads first aid into your brain, it ain't worth it. I hate mandatory attendance too, but not as much as I love $80,000! Just put in head phones and study.

Someone with AZCOM stats could probably qualify for the cusom scholarships. Even more money.

I got accepted into CUSOM as well and got awarded a merit scholarship. That pretty much sold me on going there since it makes medical school even cheaper and they have very good board scores to be such a new school. Plus I liked it. Whichever school feels right for you, go for it. I can live with mandatory attendance, as someone else said you can study and you don't have to necessarily listen to the lesson if you don't want to. Plus the dress code isn't a problem for me. It helps show professionalism, and I don't mind dressing up anyway.
