Well... got accepted to my two top DOs. Will be declining any further DO interviews unless someone can convince me otherwise. LM 71. Other schools to hear from: DMU; Both AT still, West Virginia, Msucom, didn’t apply to any California DO cause didn’t take Caspr.
Home is in pacific and SoCal. Current specialty interest EM, Gas, Family med. not really into research, but will do it if it I need to buff cv for desired specialty.
AZCOM
Pro- closer to homes and family, gorgeous campus, good resources, nonmadatory lectures, dry stable climate, happy students, good board scores and matches. Rotations in AZ and SoCal.
Con-tuition 70k, COA 107k. Yikes.
LECOM Bradenton
Pro- cheap tuition 37k, COA 69k. Nice board scores. PBL for flexibility? Nice scores and matches as well. Nice new campus. More students matching into EM and Gas.
Con- hurricanes, I like to wear shorts and t-shirts so not really into the strict dress code, little resources (?), Prefer west coast, less research opportunities?. Unknown rotations sites until 2nd year.
biggest factor withholding me from choosing lecom would be the quality of the rotation sites. Or is that student dependent? read somewhere that as long I work hard in any clerkship, regardless of the quality, I'll come out fine? But then that loan difference. Need to decide by Oct 30.
This is tough. Please advise. Thanks!!!
