Hey guys....I have been accepted to both schools and now I need to make a major decision. I really like both schools and I don't mind the locations for both. I would love to do residency in nyc area or in upper cali. Why is this so hard!!!
Here are some of my thoughts for both schools but I also wanted to know your opinions. Feel free to add to any of the lists below, and change if there are any errors.

AZCOM:
Pros - Rotation opportunities in Cali, research elective during 3rd quarter, more organized administration, paid summer quarter research internship, advanced anatomy class, beautiful campus with nice gym facility, intermural sports (softball), big open space (feels less crowded), close to Vegas, not humid, low cost of living during 1-2yrs, established rotation sites

Cons- Heat during summer, cost of tuition!!!, the need to move during rotations (cuz i'll be doing it in cali), sucky public transportation, everything is so spread apart

TouroNYC
Pros- NYC!! Foodie central, metro system, ability to stay in the area for rotations, lower tuition, smaller class size, 24hr gym facility, NYC!!!

Cons- Still a new school so things are changing often, non-teaching hospital rotation sites, high cost of living, gym facility that feels like a rat cage where ppl in the cafe can watch u workout while they eat

If you can do the i20 for azcom, I'd go to azcom. Personally, I think both schools are good, but as far as quality of life--azcom might be better. I like having a car and cost of living will probably be cheaper. I don't know how you feel about snow, but arizona would be a nice change from ontario winters. The only problem I see with azcom is getting the i 20. I don't think it matters that much in terms of quality of education--both schools seem pretty good.

To be fair, half of our rotation sites (3/4 by the time you'd be in rotations) are formal teaching hospitals. 1/4 are community hospitals no other way around that, and 1/4 are transitioning next year, apparently. I have no clue what the breakdown at AZCOM is (I assume closer to 100% from what you said?), just wanted to clarify the touroNY end.

Do you know that you got the Cali rotation sites? I saw you post your acceptance in the AZCOM forum yesterday, You probably want to wait to find out where you're rotating to make your decision. If you email Terry in the admissions office she'll get back to you pretty quick

Oh I had forgotten about I-20. Guess I should look into that..
This is such a tough decision. I'd love to live in nyc, but I'd also love to live in cali after 2yrs in Glendale. I also don't want too much crowd like nyc, but I also don't want to feel so isolated like Glendale lol
I take Toronto subway system and i'm use to taking the metro everywhere I go, but I wouldn't mind owning a car and driving around.

Thx DocEspana for pointing out regarding rotation sites. I knew most were teaching hospital sites, but I just read some slightly negative comments on few non-teaching hospitals. But I still wouldn't mind it as long as most sites have good preceptors and I can receive good training.

Argg this is so hard! lol

No I am not certain about my cali rotations yet. However I'd love to do Chicago rotation as well. That said, I should ask current students regarding the quality of different rotation sites, then start my ranking for preference
