Hello,

My name is Jonathan. I am a first year POD at the Arizona School of Podiatry. I created this thread for anyone with questions about the program here in AZ. I got accepted to all the schools I applied to. DMU was my top pick for 3 years in my head, until I visited AZ! Also, I'd like to give advice to anyone already coming to this school on what 1st year will be like. I took a year off before I entered, so my study skills were a little rusty. I went from an average student in quarter 1 to straight As in second quarter. I had to make a lot of adjustments from study habits in undergrad. So feel free to ask questions, please no questions on admission. If about admissions, the best is to call the school and ask about your chances of getting accepted. 🙂

Hey Jonathan,
I have been accepted to both Des Moines and Midwestern. I am not sure which school to go to, so I was hoping you could answer some questions about your experience at Midwestern so far.

(1) In general, how has your first year been at Midwestern (likes, dislikes, etc...)
(2) Do you feel that studying at Midwestern will allow you to be a competitive for residency placement (in relation to other schools)?
(3) Do you feel that the clinical training aspect of Midwestern will prepare you the same as/better than other podiatry schools?
(4) Do you feel valued as a student?
(5) What is your schedule like (a typical day)?
(6) Anything else you think I should know?

I want to settle on the west coast when all is said and done, so Midwestern seems like the logical choice, but I just want to make sure I have as much information as possible to make my decision (there seems to be a lack of information about Midwestern compared to all the other podiatry schools). Any help would be great. Thanks!

What were some of the said adjustments you had to make to your study habits?

What changed your mind from DMU to Arizona? I have a friend at AZPOD and he loves it as well, just looking for a second perspective. Also, what did you find was the hardest transition from undergrad to Pod school? Are you married? Kids? If so, how is the area for family...? Thanks!
