B-/C+ vs W?

So right now I'm bombing the biology prerequisite, getting grades in the low 80s high 70s on the tests, I know it sounds cliche but i have been dealing with outside/private issues which have been interfering with my school work. Anyway, it comes down to this: should i take a low grade over a W in a prerequisite course? Regardless of what happens I'm planing on retaking the class in the summer anyway.

I say take the grade. Work as hard as you can to make it a B- instead of a C+. To me, B- is wayyy better than a W. Especially because it's a pre req, it would suck to have to retake it. One B- won't affect your application.

He/She said no matter what he/she was retaking the class... I'd say take the W and study harder in the summer.. Just keep in mind its alot faster and more material in a short time. Good luck.👍

Well, I guess I'm just saying that I don't think it's wise to retake it over the summer if the OP can get a B- out of this semester. There are more interesting things to be done over the summer and it's not like it suddenly becomes a guaranteed A.

If you are planning to re-take the course, then take the W. A B- is a 2.7 on the GPA scale.

Also, MD schools do NOT do grade replacement; even if you re-took a course, your first-attempt grade would still be calculated in your overall GPA. A W is not calculated in your GPA.

Summary: Take the W and re-take the course.

I will say W because that does not factor into your GPA but a B or C will and its harder to bring your GPA up
