I just found out I got a B+ in Calculus after I bombed the final. I'm going to be doing a post-bac but this means my sole science grade is a B+ (unless a Political Science statistics course is also considered math?).

Should I not even bother with the post-bac option now? Is the B+ going to ruin me?

I might be overreacting but to be honest I don't know very much about med school admissions since I am new to the process (hence the post-bac). I was hoping to have as close to a 4.0 science gpa as possible and this obviously hurts that possibility.

Any help really would be appreciated.

One B+ will not ruin your grade. As long as your sGPA stays above 3.4, you should be fine to get in somewhere if you do well on the MCAT (30+). Also, if you are really worried about your GPA, you can apply to DO schools. They are a much safer and more accepted option than going to the islands.

A B+ is not that bad, and some would consider it good for a class like calc.

If you still have all your pre-reqs to go then you have plenty of time to add A's to your transcript. I say go fourth with your original plan.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm a senior with no science courses and no math since my freshman year when I had to withdraw from this same math class. My grade will definitely be at least one or two grades above median (will either be a B or B-) so I guess that's something.

However I had been doing really well in the class before the final and it felt like quite a blow. I know where I went wrong, though, and I think it's good I have this reminder for my future science classes.
