Hello SDN! I'm sorry if this question has been asked before (I'm almost sure it has
), but I would like to get some insight about my current situation.
I attended a local community college and I am now at a point in the road where I need to choose a school to transfer to. Based on where I live, I have narrowed down my choices to either UCI or CSULB. Now my question is this, when it comes time to apply to dental schools, will it matter where I attended school to earn my B.S?
I'm sure both schools offer a great education, but for some reason I have always believed that there is a little bit more prestige in going to a UC vs. a Cal State. As of now I am leaning towards attending CSULB since it is a lot cheaper than UCI. I will be paying for the remainder of my undergraduate degree with my own money, and I'm scared that if I were to attend UCI, I would be consumed with work just to keep afloat.
What are the pros and cons of choosing a UC over a Cal State (if there is any)? And would California dental schools look down upon the fact that I attended a Cal State vs. a UC?
Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear your input soon.
