Hi, does it matter whether you have a ba or bs in biology for md and do schools? I am currently doing a ba in biology and I have been trying to switch my major to bs in biology conc. in physiology because people have been telling me it looks better. The problem is my university is having trouble figuring out whether i can even change and I’ve been getting mixed answers from advisors. If I were to switch I would graduate in spring 21 and if I don’t then I would graduate in spring 20. I was planning on spending a year or two doing doing research, volunteering and studying for the mcat after I graduate. Btw I have taken all the necessary courses for med schools. So should I just graduate with a ba in bio (possibly with a minor in chemistry) or a bs in bio conc. in physiology with a chemistry minor? Also do med schools care

Thank you!

Out of all the things, BA vs BS is probably one of the least important things. I highly doubt it matters in med school admissions if you can get an acceptance with an underwater basket weaving major.

I'm applying MD not DO but I have a BA and its has been a total non-issue. My school also offers BS degrees.

This. As long as you have taken the prerequisite courses, whether you have a BA or a BS doesn't really matter. Having a 4.0 in Underwater Basketweaving from Hippie University is not quite as good as a 4.0 triple-major in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and French from MIT, but it will still get you places and will not keep you out of any school in the country. Get what you can do well in.

Nope, doesn't matter.
