Hey everyone!
Question: As of right now I am going for a BS in Bio and a minor in Chem. However, I would like the chance to take some fun, non-science classes like dance, art, or psychology. I know it is good to be well rounded but, I am not going to lie, science is not my best subject-though it is my favorite, and I really want to do well on the MCAT.
So my question is, do I take the BS, get a major and a minor and be somewhat more prepared for the MCAT, or do I take the BA instead and be more rounded? Please help! Thanks! 🙂

This has nothing to do with EMS, mods please move this to the pre med forums. Thanks.

Do whichever you want. It makes absolutely no difference.

A BA degree does not equate to well-roundedness. Sounds like you should stick to bio because its your favorite. You can become a more well-rounded person by taking classes, joining student groups, picking up new hobbies, etc.

On the thing it says it Is in the premed forum.

If you don't get a BE you might as well give up on life. BEs are for the cool people.

No, it doesn't equate, but it lets you take more classes other than just science. I just heard that Med schools like to see BA's more than BS's, esp. since they are a bit more liberal arts centered...? But then I really don't know, hence the reason I asked. haha

It makes no difference. Whatever slight preference one adcom may have is probably negated by the alternative preference by another.

I agree. The best thing you can have is a good GPA and the easiest way to get that is to take classes you enjoy.

I know what you meant by this but it reads differently. 😀
hahaha hmmm... that seems to say it all lmao

Okay, well thanks guys I guess I just need to take a look at which classes I'd be taking for each one and figure out which way I'd get a better GPA and all that.

P.S. What's a BE? Bachelor of Engineering? I don't think they even offer that at my school...

Ahh look someone made a funny!

sad thing is I saw you say that and was like "no I didn't" and couldn't understand what was so funny until I said it out loud.

Rephrase: BS = BA

Okay that's not much better.

They are the same to 99.9% of the population, adcoms included.
