I was reading 82% of First-year Dental students have one. Are there any of you who do not have them and got into Dental School? I don't want to have to get one 🙁

well if 82% of dental students have one, then 18% dont. its possible to get in, but you only improve your chances of acceptance if you get a degree. no one WANT's to use up four years to get a degree if they dont have to.

Why would you spend money to go to school and not get a degree if you're only a couple of credits shy?

I'm going to get my bachelor's, just so I can hang it on the wall and tel everyone that I spent $80,000 for a piece of paper.

Hey while we're on the subject of the baccalaureate degree, I have language credits to switch my degree to a B.A. instead of a B.S. (in biology), but which really looks better. I thought B.S. showed science background, etc, but people in the advising offices at my school have told me that it gives you an edge to have a B.A. in biology, because you usually have to take language credits to get it. Is a B.A. really better or what? I'd especially like to know what people from the East Coast say because I've heard that the B.S. degree is actually harder there.

i am going for the ba in biology. i am going to skip the foreign language so only 114 credits minimum to get the degree. i will apply when i have 77 credits and if i get accepted early then that will be fine with me. i am planning to take the dat in december and apply in may/june to my instate dental schools.

I wont. I could care less if I were only one credit shy. I'm only going to three years of undergrad and I will be 16 credits shy but I don't want to spend that extra year for that. Plus graduating from dental school you get a DDS or DMD even if you don't have a BA

First of all a BS and a BA is the same to a dental school, they don't care one single bit, its a degree. Most don't care if you get the degree or not in all honesty. They just want to see that you have taken some upper division classes and are mature enough to go to dental school.

USU or where ever will let you transfer the first year dental school credits back to get your degree anyways if it is that important to you. Don't sweat the small stuff
