In the worst case scenario where I discover that med school just isn't for me (just in case!), is there any way to avoid wasting the thousands of dollars spent on my medical education? Is it possible to transfer some credits into PA or pharmacy school? If anyone knows anything or has heard of someone doing this, please let me know. Thanks guys!

If you're in, you should be fairly set that medicine is the path you want to follow.

I'm pretty sure most pharmacy schools wouldn't take the transfer credits. I don't know much about PA schools. Either way, you will (hopefully) have learned something, so your money isn't wasted. 🙂

You can always get an MPH or MBA through a combined degree program that may open up a few doors for you. Just please don't say that you're doing it to get involved with health policy, like every other medical student with absolutely no background in politics seems to say these days.

I don't think that there is much transfer potential save for maybe a move to an academic degree plan (e.g. M.S. or Ph.D.) rather than a professional one. The reason is that professional school curricula tend to be tailor-made as stand-alone course plans to prepare you for a board exam of some sort.

I see you are set to start M1... you either doubt your ability, or else you doubt your committment.

Either way, if you really have these questions in your mind, maybe you should reexamine whether or not you should be in med school to begin with. Not to be harsh or anything.
